Rules & Detailed Information - BIFF 2017

1) Entries at BIFF are open to all International,national and regional films.

   No restriction on the production year or on the release status of the film online / offline.

2) Film Categories and Duration:- There are below 3 categories for entries

(a) Student Shorts (school/college ID card must be provided):

Fiction,Drama,Animation,Documentary, Social awareness etc.No restriction on the topic,theme,subject or genre of the film.

Duration should be 45 minutes or less.

(b) Professional Shorts :

Fiction,Drama,Animation,Documentary, Social awareness etc.No restriction on the topic,theme,subject or genre of the film.

Duration should be 45 minutes or less.

(c) Feature Films:

Fiction,Drama,Animation,Documentary, Social awareness etc.No restriction on the topic,theme,subject or genre of the film.

Duration should be more than 45 minutes.

 3) Awards: BIFF is a competitive festival with cash awards & trophies in various categories finalised by festival management. 

Winners must claim the awards/trophies within 1 month after completion of the festival event .

4) Subtitles: Films can be with dialog, silent or without dialog. All films must have English subtitles.

5) Deadlines for submission of films are as follows:

Early bird: Till 31st May 2017

Regular: 1st June - 30th September 2017 

Late Deadline: 1st October - 30th November 2017

6) Entry Fee per Film:

Student Shorts Category (school/college ID card must be provided) :

Early Bird Entry: US$ 16 or 1000 Rs

Regular Entry:    US$ 18 or 1100 Rs

Late Entry:         US$ 20 or 1200 Rs

Professional Shorts Category: 

Early Bird Entry: US$ 34 or 2200 Rs

Regular Entry:    US$ 36 or 2300 Rs

Late Entry:         US$ 38 or 2400 Rs

Feature Film Category: 

Early Bird Entry: US$ 58 or 3700 Rs

Regular Entry:    US$ 60 or 3800 Rs

Late Entry:          US$ 62 or 3900 Rs

7) Submitting Your Film:

Film can be submitted directly to BIFF online or by courier or through any of our online submission partners-FilmFreeway or FilmFestivalLife.

Please do not forget to enable download option on these platforms as we need it for preview purpose.

Poster and Synopsis of the film (max 200 words) must be uploaded on these platforms.

8) Participants can send multiple entries. However, please submit a separate entry for each film.

9) Once the film is shortlisted for festival screening/competition ,We will ask you to: 

a) Send us as soon as possible the publicity material, if required. 

b) Send us the screening copy.We will send you the detailed instructions regarding screening format.

10) Once entered, films may not be withdrawn from participation at BIFF under any circumstances.

11) By submitting film to BIFF, filmmaker/producer/submitter takes the whole responsibility of copyright issues of music, script and other creative and technical aspects of film. He/she accepts the responsibility for the accuracy of the information supplied and authorises BIFF to reproduce & use personal/company's contact information as supplied. The applicant/submitter confirms that he / she has the requisite authority or has obtained the requisite authority from the producer / right holder/concerned authorities to enter, screen and publicise the film in BIFF  and make available the print for screening. BIFF is not responsible /answerable to any copyright/legal issues regarding submitted film.

12) Notification of selected films will be announced on website/social media platforms as per schedule (tentative date- 9th February 2018) . However, the festival management reserves the right to change the dates, accept or refuse any film without assigning any reason whatsoever.

13) Filmmakers/delegates of short listed films will be invited to attend the festival.However,the festival may not arrange or reimburse for travel / stay expenses of the participants attending the festival.

14) Festival management/organisers shall determine selections and award winners at their sole discretion. Decision of the BIFF festival management regarding all matters not expressly provided for, in these rules and regulations or which require interpretation of the clauses mentioned above shall be final and cannot be challenged.

15) Though we will be doing our best efforts & arrangements to screen selected films in topmost commercial quality during the event, we cannot guarantee a commercial cinema hall display or effects, as screening may be held in an auditorium.

16) Shipping and Insurance: All costs,if any, related to the shipment of the film, publicity, promotional and photographic material to and from the BIFF will be at the expense of the participants.
